VOR Game

I joined the game! Now I just need some tips and want to hear other peoples strategies.. I know many of you are playing so I figured we could duke it out and discuss the game here.

what's the name of your boat? mine's 'boxboat'....i know, very creative.
right now i'm in 7176th place. i hope i'm never that place number in a real regatta! i'm working my way down the south american coast right now, waiting to make the turn towards africa.
hey guys! yes my first boat, Vison, made landfall and got stuck for a while right after the start! DOH! so i made 2nd Chance bc why not right?! i am totally addicted and its awesome! im in about ~500th right now and fighting to stay in the front pretty hard.
i got swallowed by the lwo pressure system and it was pretty terrible waking up and finding my boat speed had dropped from 23 knots to DEAD STOPPED! ugghhhh!
is anyone else as addicted as i am?
this game is great... i wish i could've been a little more in contention on this leg. i thought i might get lucky and squeak through the doldrums unscathed and make up some boats, but the wind had other ideas and i got trapped in no air for three or four days.
I'm still working my way south, trying to hook onto the next system to get eastward. It looks like I may get a ride towards africa in another day and a half, based on the games weather predictions anyways. I just hope the storm moves slow enough and i move fast enough to meet up. time will tell.
