Waterfront in Barcelona, Spain

Exploring the Barcelona waterfront is  a great adventure !Barcelona's waterfront has undergone many changes over the years. It origniated as a fishing port and a major industrial area. There is still a very large industial section of Barcelona's waterfront. However, there are now ports along the waterfront that have been transformed to suit both commercial and recreational needs of those who live in the city. I have 14weeks to gain an understanding of how the city of Barcelona has transformed. In 1992 the Olympic games were held in Barcelona, this was the major turning point for the waterfront. Barcelona began to clean up their waterfront and developed a space that would support the Olympic Games.

In order to better understand the design of urban waterfronts it is important to understand why people visit the waterfront. What draws you to the water? Do you find that it is peaceful and calming? Are you a sailing or boating enthusiast who cant live without being on the water? Do you like to shop and eat while watching whats going on out on the water? Tell me what you think!
